Urinary Tract Infections

A urinary tract infection occurs when bacteria infect part of the urinary tract, most commonly the bladder and urethra. Common symptoms are a burning sensation during urination, the need to urinate frequently although very little comes out, pain, and blood in the urine.

Bladder infections are very treatable with antibiotics and drugs to relieve symptoms. Recurrent bladder infections can be a sign of an underlying medical problem. If an infection makes its way to the kidney, it becomes more serious and should be treated immediately.
