Benign Prostate Disorders
While prostate cancer is the most serious health problem associated with the prostate, there are some non-cancerous disorders that can affect this male sexual gland.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition where the prostate becomes enlarged and begins interfering with the function of the bladder, urethra, and kidneys. Depending on the severity of BPH, it may not be treated at all. Moderate to severe BPH is treated with medication and/or surgery or laser surgery.
